Bathroom Talk

Out of nowhere, Josh pee'd in the potty after his bath last night. We've had a couple practice runs whenever Josh feels like it of just sitting on the potty and squirming around. Usually I think it is just a ploy to not put on his diaper yet. But yesterday, under Daddy's supervision, something really did happen! It will probably be awhile before it happens again, but we were still very excited! And then I missed the cutest picture of Josh walking behind Daddy down the hall with nothing on as they went go put on pjs. It seems like the camera is always on the wrong floor of the house.

Car seat update: Haven't had too much trauma over the carseat being moved to the side. Just goes to show you, I never know what to expect with Josh. He is constantly surprising and amazing me.

Car Seat

With much fear and trepidition, we moved Josh's car seat over to the side today. At first Josh climbed right in, but once he was seated he said "I want to be in the right spot" pointing to the middle of the backseat. He didn't get too upset and he was distractable on our trip, but we'll see how it goes. We are getting ready for the baby, so it had to happen, but it makes all of us sad to move Josh's seat over.

Josh-isms for June

  • Josh likes to say "Daddy will be so proud of me" whenever he gets something new. I try to tell Josh that "Daddy is proud of him for being so good at the doctors" or whatever it is at the time, but that part of the concept hasn't caught on yet.
  • The other evening I was asking Josh about his day. I didn't quite understand what he said so I asked him to repeat it. Josh said "I already told you, Mommy". Scott said "He's taking after you" since repeating myself is not usually my speciality!
  • Josh is finally jumping! It has taken awhile but he is offically jumping and getting some air underneath both feet!
  • "I can do it myself".
  • Mom/Dad: "Josh, do you want yogurt or shredded wheats for breakfast?" Josh: "I want the one with the sugar on it."
  • We've started to have some food battles, where Josh comes to the table for dinner and says "I don't want that". Not that often, but it has definitely started.

"Grabby Things"

Josh has discovered the pot holders. He likes to play with the "grabby things", and you know what, they can be a lot of fun!

First Visit to the Dentist

Josh went to the dentist for the first time on Friday. Overall, I'd say he wasn't too happy with the experience. He definitely did not want to sit in the chair so he ended up mostly on my lap. It initially looked like teeth cleaning would be a no-go, but then the hygienist asked if Josh liked chocolate. "Chocolate?" said Josh. So, we were able to get his teeth cleaned after all, with some chocolate toothpaste.

Seeing the actual dentist was a whole different story. Josh was not interested at all. But you know what, once he started screaming the dentist could see right in there! At least we don't have to go through that again for awhile.

In summary
  1. No cavities (or visible ones I guess).
  2. Josh has all his teeth
  3. All those gaps between his teeth, that's a good thing b/c then his adult teeth won't be so crowded.
  4. Ahhh, the pacifier, which Josh only seems more attached to than ever. I thought we'd be able to get rid of it at three, but w/the baby coming, toilet training, really sleeping in the big boy bed, it might be more like three and half... But when it goes, hopefully his "open bite" will correct itself very quickly.

Australian?

Sometimes we like to pretend that we are visiting our friends in Australia. So we say things to Josh like "no worries'. The other day Josh said "But, I can go get it, no worries." Of course, he doesn't have the accent, but it's pretty cute.

These are the kind of pictures you get when Josh takes control of the camera!!!

How Josh Sleeps

tucked into the corner of his crib, paci in mouth, blanket making him "cozy". Yes, he is picking to sleep in the crib and not the big boy bed. Someday...

Yard work

Josh would say "I know, we need something with a big blade, we need a bulldozer".

Food photos

It's been awhile since we've had some pictures of Josh eating. Besides not updating this blog as often as I should, I haven't been taking enough pictures! So, I figured we should catch up on our food shots. Josh's favorite food these days - dessert, preferrably something that has chocolate chips in it.
